Recently, Towers of Key Biscayne residents Mark and Dr. Pilar Silverman traveled to the country of Georgia and took along their Islander News to remind them of home.
Georgia sits at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, tucked into the Caucasus Mountains between the Black and Caspian seas. Though geographically split between the two continents, Georgia is widely referred to as European and is a candidate for European Union membership. The country claims one of the world’s oldest wine-making traditions, dating back roughly 8,000 years, and its capital, Tbilisi, is known for a beautifully preserved old town, sulfur bathhouses and a language with its own unique 33-letter alphabet.
