NORTH AUGUSTA, SC. (WRDW/WAGT) – As has been the tradition for the last 30 years, a new Peach Jam champion has been crowned.
Sunday morning, the Florida Rebels defeated Drive Nation 81-70 to win the program’s first 17U Peach Jam championship.
Leading the way was tournament MVP Cayden Daughtry of the Florida Rebels, one of the nation’s top-10 recruits.
Daughtry’s dominance throughout the tournament was evident well before the championship game. He was presented with the tournament MVP trophy Saturday night ahead of the Florida Rebels’ semifinal matchup against Team Herro.
In Sunday’s title game, Daughtry finished with 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
He led all players in the tournament in scoring at 32.3 points per game and ranked third in assists at 6.1 per game.
Sharing the same court as Daughtry was Grovetown native MJ Curry.
Before the start of the 2025 season, Curry transferred from Grovetown High School to Grayson High School in Loganville, GA.
Sunday, he finished with six points and two rebounds, but his defensive impact was the biggest force.
“I feel like being able to stop the best player from scoring in times where needed, being able to score consistently, and really just bringing energy to the team, and being where I needed to be,” said Curry.
Curry is the first player from the CSRA to win any level of Peach Jam Championship since 2021.
The last batch to win was Thomson’s Lavonta Ivery and Jahkiaus Jones, and Augusta Christian’s Elijah Crawford. All three played for Skill Factory and won the 16U Peach Jam Championship.
He is also the first player from the CSRA to win the 17U Peach Jam Championship.
“Being at the place I’ve always been at, I’ve been seeing this stuff since I can remember, if I’m being honest. Being able to end out my AAU career here is great,” said Curry.
The 2026 Florida Rebels squad will go down as one of the greatest teams to ever go through the Nike EYBL circuit.
