As part of its recent The Sanibel Community Safety Update, the Sanibel Police Department (SPD) released “Island Safety By The Numbers” for the month of June.
The numbers are as follows:
Law enforcement activity
– Arrests: Nine
– Notices to appear issued: Five
– Reported burglaries or thefts: Four
Traffic enforcement, safety
– Traffic stops: 490
– Citations issued: 81
– Warnings issued: 423
– Radar enforcement details: 265
– Traffic crashes: 11
Calls for service
– Calls for service: 7,999
– 911 calls received: 198
– Alarm calls: 29
Community engagement, patrol
– Residential area checks: 2,126
– Business area checks: 1,072
– Area checks: 4,892
– Ranger contacts on Shared Use Path: 736
– Ranger contacts at parks and beaches: 1,420
ARRESTS
– On June 3, a driver was arrested and charged with license plate attached not assigned.
– On June 5, a driver was arrested and charged with for DUI and refusal to submit.
– On June 8, a driver was arrested and charged with knowingly driving with a suspended license.
– On June 13, a driver was arrested and charged with DUI 0.15% or higher BAC.
– On June 14, a male subject was arrested and charged with breach of peace, threats against law enforcement officers, resisting officer with violence and assault on a law enforcement officer.
– On June 27, a driver was arrested and charged with knowingly driving with a suspended license.
– On June 28, a driver was arrested and charged with DUI and refusal to submit.
– On June 28, a driver was arrested and charged with DUI, refusal to submit and reckless driving.
