TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Firefighters in eastern Leon County quickly contained a residential structure fire on Pembroke Court after being dispatched at about 5:12 p.m. July 19, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.
Crews arrived in less than five minutes and found smoke coming from a single-story home. The homeowner was outside and attempting to extinguish the fire when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters deployed hose lines and brought the fire under control. The fire started at the rear of the home and extended into the attic.
No injuries were reported.
The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted by the Chaires-Capitola Volunteer Fire Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. Responding units included R12, TA12, E6, and BC3.
Fire officials reminded residents that many residential fires begin outside before spreading to the structure. They urged people to properly dispose of smoking materials, keep combustible debris away from buildings and stay alert for any signs of smoke or fire after spending time outdoors.
