Massive traffic disruption reported on US-17 near NAS Jax Monday afternoon

There were issues from Collins Road to Timuquana Road, blocking traffic on US-17 until the early evening. NAS Jax said there was a downed power line.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Major traffic disruptions were reported on US-17 near NAS Jax during Monday’s rush.

FL511 listed police activity at Collins Road, blocking all traffic in that area before 5:30 p.m. The alert has since been removed.

Further north, emergency vehicles were reported in the area of Timuquana Road, also blocking the roadway. That alert was also removed before 6 p.m.

In a post to social media, NAS Jax said there was a downed power line across Roosevelt Blvd, south of the NAS Jacksonville Birmingham Gate.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it was responding to traffic signal issues in the area all afternoon.
