Jacksonville police have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by two vehicles earlier this month as investigators continue searching for the driver who left the scene.

The Jacksonville Police Department said officers responded around 12:27 a.m. July 10 to a crash at the intersection of Western Boulevard, also known as N.C. 53, and Gateway Drive South.

Investigators said 30-year-old Quentin Antonio Aguirre of Yorktown, Indiana, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a Jeep Wrangler.

Police said the Jeep’s driver, Christina Geffre of Richlands, stopped to render aid. While she was assisting, Aguirre was struck by a second vehicle.

According to investigators, the second driver did not stop at the scene. Police said the vehicle was reported to be pulling an enclosed U-Haul trailer.

Aguirre was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

The Jacksonville Police Department continues to ask for the public’s help identifying the second vehicle and its driver.
