JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Jacksonville man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he sexually assaulted a child in 2021.
According to online arrest records, Paul Darrel Sheppard, 74, of Jacksonville, was arrested by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office on July 20, 2026.
Sheppard is charged with:
Felony statutory rape of a child by an adultFelony statutory sex offense with a child by an adultSecret peeping
According to arrest warrants, the alleged offenses occurred on Jan. 1, 2021, and involved a child who was under the age of 13. Charging documents also allege Shappard secretly looked into a bathroom occupied by the child at a home on Thyme Court in Jacksonville.
Sheppard is being held in the Onslow County Detention Center without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 21, 2026.
