The St. Petersburg Police Department identified the suspect, who is still in the hospital after Florida troopers arrested him on I-75.
LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Petersburg Police Department has identified the suspect involved in Wednesday’s shooting of a St. Pete sanitation employee.
Ladavion King, 43, allegedly shot and killed Tasha Moses, a 47-year-old mother of four and sanitation technician with the city of St. Petersburg, in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South.

Police say the woman, whom King knew, was shot several times while in the cab of her front-end loader work vehicle after an argument broke out between them.
According to police, he fled the scene and drove south on I-75.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers and deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office found King barricaded inside his car in Fort Myers.
King was arrested and brought to a Lee County hospital with serious injuries, FHP said. He is still being treated in the hospital but is in the custody of LCSO, according to St. Pete police.
FHP confirmed in a press release Thursday morning that he “remains in serious condition at an area hospital.”
The FHP’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Division is conducting an active investigation, but that “charges are forthcoming.”
According to records from the Florida Department of Corrections, King has a criminal history dating back to 2006. He was released in 2020 after serving 10 years for carjacking without a firearm or deadly weapon.
