ORLANDO, Fla. — You may see some new fencing around Lake Eola this weekend.
It’s all a part of the city of Orlando’s efforts to rehome the flock of swans that have been living at the lake.
Orlando city officials say they are entering the final phase of the rehoming process and the new fencing helps create a safe space during that time, adding that rehoming the swans should be completed by this weekend.
The city started removing the swans earlier this summer in response to dozens of swans dying from bird flu during the winter.
In a statement earlier this year, the city said, “Responsibly rehoming the flock is the most compassionate and responsible step for their long-term health.”
