St. Pete police say the arrest warrant is for first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. Additional charges have already been filed in Lee County.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD) said it has obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect involved in the deadly shooting of a city employee.
On Wednesday, Ladavion King, 43, allegedly shot and killed Tasha Moses, a 47-year-old mother of four and sanitation technician with the city of St. Petersburg, on 12th Avenue South.

Police say the woman, whom King knew, was shot several times while in the cab of her front-end loader work vehicle after an argument broke out between them. He then reportedly fled the scene and drove south on I-75.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office found King barricaded inside his car in Fort Myers. Following the standoff, FHP said King was taken into custody and brought to a hospital with serious injuries.
Jail records show King is facing charges in Lee County, including attempted second degree murder with a firearm, discharging a firearm in public, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and fleeing/eluding police.
A spokesperson with the St. Petersburg Police Department confirmed that detectives got an arrest warrant for King for first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
According to records from the Florida Department of Corrections, King has a criminal history dating back to 2006. He was released in 2020 after serving 10 years for carjacking without a firearm or deadly weapon.
