TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Drivers in Midtown Tallahassee can expect a smoother ride soon as the city begins a resurfacing project along Sixth Avenue.
The City of Tallahassee started the work today on Sixth Avenue from Thomasville Road to Magnolia Drive. Work hours will generally be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Traffic will continue to flow along the corridor during construction. One lane will be closed at a time as work progresses, and one lane will remain open to keep traffic moving. The city is urging drivers to avoid distractions and slow down near the work zone.
The Sixth Avenue resurfacing follows recent work on Seventh Avenue, where the city resurfaced the road after major underground utility upgrades. Those upgrades included rehabilitation of sections of the sanitary sewer system, upgrading 4,500 feet of water main, replacing fire hydrants and more. The improvements along Seventh Avenue represent a more than $3.3 million investment to strengthen critical infrastructure.
