WINDER, Ga. (WTVC) — The next chapter in one of Georgia’s deadliest school shootings is now underway.
A sentencing hearing resumed Monday for Colt Gray, the teenager who pleaded guilty Friday to all 55 charges stemming from the 2024 shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder.

The hearing comes two days after Gray admitted carrying out the Sept. 4, 2024 attack that killed two students and two teachers and wounded several others.
Because Gray entered a non-negotiated guilty plea, Barrow County Superior Court Judge Nicholas Primm will decide his sentence after hearing evidence, victim testimony and sentencing recommendations from both prosecutors and defense attorneys.
The judge will determine whether Gray spends the rest of his life in prison with or without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors have said they plan to present testimony from victims and witnesses, along with surveillance video, crime scene photographs, 911 calls and other records.
Defense attorneys have said they intend to call a psychologist, a counselor from the juvenile detention center where Gray has been held and his grandmother to testify.
Gray was 14 years old when the shooting happened but was charged as an adult.
