TAMPA — While rookies with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reported to training camp Monday at the Advent Health training center, one of the team’s veterans is said to be seeking a trade.
Multiple sources, including our partners with the Tampa Bay Times, said Bucs defensive tackle Vita Vea and his agent have asked for a trade, wanting a new deal.
The 2018 first round draft pick of the Bucs is scheduled to make nearly $18 million this season on his current contract.
The 31-year-old Vea, who has made two Pro Bowls and was on the team’s 2020 Super Bowl championship team, didn’t participate in the team’s earlier minicamp or organized team activities (OTAs).
The Bucs’ veterans are scheduled to report to camp on Tuesday. Vea is expected to be there..
Tampa Bay’s first preseason game is on Aug. 14 against the New York Jets.
