Heat advisory across Central Florida as temps are hot and humid – Orlando Sentinel

Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Orange and northern Brevard counties are under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Temperature highs are in the mid-90s across Central Florida with peak heat index values up to 109 degrees, according to NWS Melbourne.

Skies will be mostly sunny.

Scattered afternoon showers and storms are expected for the afternoon, with the greatest coverage from Orlando and Cape Canaveral southward.

A 40 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms is present, mainly after 2. p.m

There is a moderate risk of rip currents at area beaches.
