STARKE, Fla. (WWSB) – Florida State Prison is carrying out two executions Tuesday, beginning with a man convicted of killing an 11-year-old girl nearly four decades ago.
James Ducket, 68, was scheduled to be executed at noon. He was convicted in the 1987 murder of an 11-year-old girl in Lake County.

Six hours later, Dominic Akikani, 80, is scheduled to die by lethal injection at 6 p.m.
Akikani was convicted of killing his former girlfriend’s parents in Pasco County more than 40 years ago. If carried out, he would become the oldest person executed in Florida’s modern era.
