HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded Tuesday morning after a vehicle crashed into two apartment units, causing structural damage.
It happened just after 9:30 a.m. on Palm Bay Drive in the Palm River area.
The first crews to arrive found a vehicle that had impacted not one, but two apartment units. According to the preliminary investigation, the driver backed into one apartment before pulling forward into a second apartment, causing structural damage to both buildings.
Firefighters secured the scene, evacuated both buildings, and searched to make sure no additional people remained inside. Two pediatric patients, both occupants of one of the impacted apartments, were transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
HCFR worked with Hillsborough County Code Enforcement to assess the structural integrity of the buildings.
