PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Pinellas Park Police arrested a St. Petersburg man after allegedly clocking him speeding at more than 100 mph on Bryan Dairy Road early Tuesday morning.
According to an arrest affidavit, Anthony James Carbonaro, 25, was charged with dangerous excessive speeding over 100 mph.
An officer reported seeing Carbonaro traveling eastbound on Bryan Dairy Road at what appeared to be about 100 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.
The officer recorded the vehicle traveling 104 mph from approximately 460 feet away, the report states.
Carbonaro allegedly told the officer his vehicle was malfunctioning and that he wanted to see whether the issue would clear up if he drove faster, according to the affidavit.
