Cape Coral City Manager Michael Ilczyszyn proposed a $1.451 billion budget for fiscal year 2027 that maintains the rolled-back property tax rate of 5.1988 mills while increasing spending on public safety, infrastructure and utilities.
The proposal includes a $285 million General Fund and comes as the city faces slowing growth in taxable values, rising labor costs and inflation.
Among the largest investments are $97.7 million for the police department, $97.6 million for the fire department and $400 million for the North Water Reclamation Facility. The budget also includes $12.9 million for road resurfacing, $3.1 million for the Andalusia Boulevard extension and $3 million for economic development incentives.
Parks and recreation projects include playground replacements, sports field lighting and park improvements, while $50.4 million is budgeted for the city’s municipal charter school system.
The proposal now heads to the Cape Coral City Council, which is expected to hold public hearings and vote on final adoption in September.
