Tampa now has a torta the size of a full-grown Chihuahua.
Mita’s Cocina Moderna, a new family-owned modern Mexican concept, quietly debuted in Tampa’s Hyde Park neighborhood earlier this month.
Located at 301 W Platt St. Ste C (the old Yah Mon Caribbean Restaurant), Mita’s soft-opened back on July 11, with a focus on handcrafted tacos, fajitas, and signature tortas, including a 12-inch torta dubbed “La Titan!”, which is “built for sharing.”
All tortas, including La Titan!, can come in a variety of ways including steak, pork, roasted veggies shrimp and more.
For example, a grilled chicken La Titan! (pictured) is $25, and comes with stacks of grilled chicken chunks, cabbage, bean spread, chipotle aioli and avocado.
Normal tortas range between $11 and $15.
The menu also features a variety of micheladas and beers, as well as a slew of wines and agave cocktails.
Mita’s is open from 11 am – 9 p.m. every Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. on Sundays.
Mexican flavors are apparently hot in Tampa right now. Back in June, “Coastal Mexican” restaurant La Victoria announced it will debut this fall about a mile down the Riverwalk.
