TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A federal jury found a Tallahassee man guilty yesterday of drug trafficking and illegally possessing firearms after investigators said they uncovered a large cache of narcotics and multiple pistols inside his home.

Christopher L. Daniels, 47, of Tallahassee, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute various controlled substances, including more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The guilty verdict was announced by John P. Heekin, United States attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Evidence at trial showed the Tallahassee Police Department investigated Daniels for drug trafficking, culminating in the execution of a search warrant at his home on Jan. 21, 2026. Officers found about 2.75 ounces of methamphetamine, an ounce of cocaine, half an ounce of crack cocaine laid out in plain view on an ironing board, about an ounce of “molly” described as two different synthetic cathinones, 64 suspected MDMA tablets that were determined to be low-purity methamphetamine, and a pound of marijuana.

Four pistols were also found in the house, including a “Draco” AK-47-style pistol found near the plate of crack cocaine. Authorities also said evidence on Daniels’ cellphone showed he was engaged in drug trafficking.

Prosecutors said Daniels is a 12-time convicted felon with convictions dating back to 1996 and faces enhanced sentencing because of multiple prior convictions for serious drug felonies.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before U.S. District Court Judge Robert L. Hinkle. Daniels faces 25 years to life in prison, 10 years to life on supervised release, and a fine of up to $20 million.

The case was investigated jointly by the Tallahassee Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney James A. McCain prosecuted the case.

Federal officials said the case is part of Operation Take Back America and Project Safe Neighborhoods, Department of Justice initiatives focused on combating violent crime and other public safety threats.
