James “Jimmy” Douglas Brooks, 83, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Born on January 12, 1943, in Shelbyville, Indiana, Jimmy was the son of Carol and Laverne Brooks. He moved to Florida with his family in 1956 and became a lifelong resident of St. Lucie County.

A proud graduate of Dan McCarty High School, Class of 1960, Jimmy was a hardworking entrepreneur who owned and operated S&S Towing and Brooks Body Shop for many years.

Jimmy was known for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand. A dedicated community volunteer, he enjoyed watching sports, water skiing, boating, taking his Jeep for drives on the beach, and going out to dinner with family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved making people laugh, and will be remembered as a true jokester.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Patricia Brooks of Port St. Lucie, Florida; his son, Doug (Tommi) Brooks of North Carolina; his daughters, Barbie (Jeff) Smith of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Stephanie (Scott) Holmes of Fort Pierce, Florida; and his cherished grandchildren, Tiffani, Lindsay, Kaitlin, Ansley, Reid, Lindsey, McKenzie, Coltan, Brooks, Hunter, Dawson, Jaron, and Jeffrey.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Ethel Laverne Brooks, and by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Judy Brooks.
