PORT ST. LUCIE — An 86-year-old woman was killed on July 30 when her car was struck by another at the intersection of Southwest Savona Boulevard and Southwest Lawndale Avenue, Port St. Lucie, according to police reports.
Marie R. Martin was traveling west in a 2006 Hyundai Elantra near the stop sign on Southwest Lawndale Avenue at about 2:30 p.m., when she failed to yield and drove through the intersection at Southwest Savona Boulevard and Southwest Lawndale Avenue, according to police reports.
As she went through the intersection, her car was hit on the driver’s side by a 2026 Honda HR-V, driven by a 17-year-old boy, who was headed north on Southwest Savona Boulevard.
Martin was extricated by emergency responders and was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital with critical injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, Martin later died of her injuries, according to police reports.
The 17-year-old driver was not injured in the crash, according to police reports.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. More details will be provided as they become available.
