MONROE COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — A man wanted for burglarizing the home of an elderly man and stealing his car in Florida is now behind bars in Monroe County.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said that around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to a “Be On the Lookout,” or “BOLO,” for a stolen vehicle out of Bay County, Fla.
It was reported that the driver fled from deputies after burglarizing the home of an elderly man, stealing property and his vehicle.
Using Flock cameras, MCSO said deputies located the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the High Falls Inn and Suites with the driver, identified as 31-year-old Trey Buntin of Panama City, still inside.

After checking the vehicle’s registration, deputies confirmed it belonged to the victim.
As a result, Buntin was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Jail on charges of Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Intentionally Covering the VIN to Conceal the Identity of the Vehicle.
He is being held without bond and facing additional charges in Florida.
