Isolated showers Saturday night for the Gulf Coast, increasing moisture Sunday

Expect a few showers moving across the Southwest Florida Saturday night as rain chances climb Sunday

A few isolated showers are possible Saturday night, but coverage will remain limited. Westerly winds continue to move showers from west to east across Southwest Florida Saturday night. Increasing moisture will make it feel muggy and also keep overnight lows close to 80 degrees.

Sunday will see an increase in moisture and rain coverage. Winds will begin to shift from the west to a moisture-laden southerly direction; this is all ahead of a sluggish frontal boundary draped to our north. This will help pool moisture over South Florida, leading to expanded rain coverage Sunday. As showers and storms begin to build, the winds will help to move most activity towards interior sections of SWFL.

Continued troughing over the eastern U.S. will help to keep this unsettled pattern in place for next week. A wind shift could provide the chance for metro sections of the Gulf Coast to return to afternoon/ evening thunderstorm pattern.

Tropics: No development is expected over the next seven days. However, there is a weak signal for subtle development somewhere in the SW Atlantic late next week.
