Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is quickly approaching a major construction milestone, with nearly the entire roller coaster layout now installed at Universal Studios Florida.

Aerial photographer bioreconstruct shared new views of the sprawling construction site, offering some of the clearest looks yet at the attraction’s interconnected track, station, launch, and maintenance areas.

From above, light gray track winds through a dense forest of dark blue support columns between existing soundstages and other park structures. Only a few conspicuous gaps interrupt the course, indicating that installation of the main ride track is almost complete.
The latest work builds upon the towering structure documented in our previous construction update. More track now stretches across and around this section, forming a steep hill and sharply banked turns near the bright blue roof of a neighboring building.

Several track ends remain disconnected in this area. One elevated section rises into a small crest before abruptly ending, while another track segment points upward above the nearby blue roof, ready to link the full elevated segment. This marks the second tallest feature of the coaster, which bioreconstruct notes could be the location of a future “topping off” ceremony.

Another view of this track area shows how tightly the coaster’s layout has been fitted into the available footprint. Track sections cross above and below one another, with multiple rapid changes in elevation and direction packed between the existing buildings.

The lagoon side of the construction site remains largely unpaved, with exposed dirt surrounding the completed footers. Bundles of drainage pipe, structural steel, crates, scaffolding, and construction equipment are scattered beneath the track. Landscaping and permanent walkways have not yet been installed in this section.
A long, relatively straight stretch is still surrounded by scaffolding and maintenance platforms. It runs alongside another elevated track section before both routes continue into the more compact series of curves near the center of the site.

The attraction’s signature spike rises prominently above the surrounding soundstages. Trains will travel up the 170-foot structure, which twists 180 degrees near its peak, before reversing direction and returning through a sliding switch track. Earlier aerial photos helped illustrate the anticipated route through the spike and switch-track sequence.
Station and Opening Scene Progress

Significant work is also underway around the station and enclosed portions of the ride. The coaster’s large station now has a completed metal roof, while track curves tightly around three sides of the structure. Extensive grated platforms and catwalks follow the track as it bends toward the station.

Workers and construction vehicles are visible beneath the roof, where parts of the building remain open. The aerial angle also reveals parallel track sections and the hardware used to direct trains into and out of the station area.

Nearby, steel framing continues to rise around the track leading away from the station. This structure is believed to enclose the coaster’s opening scene before trains enter the launch and switch-track sequence. We previously shared a closer look at the developing enclosed scene, which has since gained additional structural framing, roofing, and exterior panels.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift replaces Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which closed in August 2025. Universal has announced that the new coaster will open in 2027.
The resort’s existing Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction will permanently close on August 17, 2026, with its final day of operation scheduled for August 16.
