The Cape Coral Police Department announced a new safety initiative called Sharewear, funded through a grant, to help protect vulnerable community members.
Sharewear bracelets allow smartphones to tap or scan them to access important information about the wearer, such as emergency contacts or medical details.
The waterproof bracelets, which do not require charging or batteries, have been introduced to officers trained to recognize and scan them during emergencies.
The bracelets also include add-on buttons with phrases like “I am non-verbal” or symbols like a puzzle piece for Autism awareness.
This initiative supplements existing programs like Project Lifesaver, offering families and caregivers additional safety options.
