On July 22, the Spiral Circle Bookstore hosted a community vision meeting to help “dream the future of Jubilee Tea Garden.” The meeting was hosted by Chonteau McElvin and Spiral Circle owner Julie Wilder.
McElvin is director of conscious culture at Spiral Circle. She and Wilder have partnered up in the last year to help bring Jubilee to life.
The Jubilee kitchen will be replacing Wilder’s office at the bookstore. According to the current plan, there would be a walk-up window to order, but it would not have a lot of equipment. Some examples of the food they are looking to serve up are chili, sandwiches, hummus, teas of the day and cobblers.

For drinks, Wilder shared that she is an herbalist who really wants to focus on celebrating different cultures and traditions through beverages. That will include medicinal mocktails.
In the garden, they are hoping to use some of the herbs for their meals. The new space would consist of mostly outside seating, at least in phase one. They shared that nothing in the bookstore will move.
When this article was written, Jubilee had reached $13,906 of their $30,000 goal and continues to crowdfund as they look for more donations from patrons.
