Harry Chapin Food Bank has kicked off a Thanksgiving Frozen Turkey & Ham Drive to assist its agency partners in Southwest Florida in providing meals for those in need this holiday season.

Through Nov. 20, the nonprofit is gathering wrapped, frozen turkeys and hams to be distributed by partner organizations hosting Thanksgiving meals or offering meal kits in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, and Lee counties.

“The whole purpose of Thanksgiving is to be gracious and appreciative for our blessings, and we also want to share our blessings with those who are not as fortunate,” said Richard Leber, president and CEO of Harry Chapin Food Bank.

“No one in our community should go hungry, especially not on Thanksgiving,” Leber said.

Harry Chapin Food Bank works with a network of 175 agency partners to distribute food to more than 250,000 neighbors each month. The organization estimates that one in eight individuals in Southwest Florida, along with one in six children, faces food insecurity.

Donations of frozen turkeys and hams are accepted from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays through Nov. 20 at the nonprofit’s main distribution centers:

Lee County: 3760 Fowler Street in Fort Myers

Collier County: 3940 Prospect Avenue, Unit 101 in Naples
