To start the first full workweek of August, the average price of regular gasoline in the Miami metropolitan area is $3.89 per gallon. Prices in Miami are 3.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 94.5 cents higher than they were a year ago.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Miami on Sunday was selling regular gasoline for $3.55 per gallon, while the highest reported price was $5.99 per gallon. On Key Biscayne, both gas stations remained at $5.79 per gallon, keeping the Island among the most expensive places to fill up in Miami-Dade County.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline fell 0.8 cents per gallon over the last week, averaging $4.05 per gallon on Monday.
“Average gasoline prices were a mixed bag across the country last week as oil markets went on a wild ride, surging on geopolitical tensions before pulling back Sunday night after President Trump signaled a potential deal may be in the works,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “However, even as oil prices ease on deal optimism, continued Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure are driving refined product prices higher as output plummets, keeping upward pressure on what Americans pay at the pump.”
