Gas prices in most of Florida were below the $4 mark, with the statewide average falling 14 cents in the past week amid the latest round of attacks and talks with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz.
AAA put the average gallon of gas in Florida on Monday at $3.83, or 27 cents lower than the national average.
Averages ranged from $3.80 a gallon in Escambia County, which includes Pensacola, to $4.04 in Monroe County, which includes the Florida Keys.
Parts of the Big Bend region and South Florida were at or just below the $4 mark.
The average price for a gallon of unleaded gas on Monday $3.74 in Lake County, $3.75 in Brevard County, $3.77 in Osceola County, $3.78 in Orange County, $3.80 in Polk County, $3.81 in Volusia County and $3.83 in Seminole County.
Overall, the prices were down as President Donald Trump posted early Sunday that he had called off a planned strike on Iran after receiving a request for talks from Tehran.
“We have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the parameters of a deal has been agreed to,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump added any agreement would include the “Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat.”
Prices are also affected by the dearth of refined products supplies, with the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve in late July 2026 at its lowest inventory level since March 1983, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Diesel in Florida was selling at an average of $5.36 on Monday, down 10 cents from a week earlier.
For electric vehicles, the cost per kilowatt-hour at Florida charging stations on Monday rounded to 41 cents this past week. The price was 39 cents on Feb. 28. Nationally, the average rounds to 42 cents. The average was 39 cents on Feb. 28.
