A woman accused of driving recklessly while her child was in the backseat in Hollywood was arrested last week, authorities said.

Julia Ann Pilkington, 35, was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm, resisting an officer, and reckless driving.

According to Hollywood Police, on July 26, officers arrived at a drive-thru  convenience store after receiving reports of a customer who appeared to have fainted in their car.

An arrest report said officers approached the vehicle, and the driver, identified as Pilkington, was conscious but uncooperative. Officers also spotted a small child who was in a car seat in the back of the vehicle.

Body camera video shows an officer telling Pilkington to lower her passenger side window, which she refused to do, and when the officer went to open her car’s door, she sped off.

Pilkington, the report said, then started to drive around the business while driving erratically, went against traffic, failed to maintain her vehicle and crashed into a police cruiser.

When she crashed into the cruiser, Pilkington kept accelerating, which produced smoke and the smell of burning rubber, the report said.

At one point, Pilkington was seen on body camera video sitting on the grass and asking officers to see her baby.

Pilkington was then taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation and was taken to the Broward Jail after she was cleared.

During her court appearance on Monday, a judge set Pilkington’s bond at $2,500.

She was ordered to return to court on Tuesday at 1 p.m., or she would be re-arrested.
