U.S. attorney’s office to join National Night Out events across North Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Law enforcement agencies across North Central Florida and the Florida Panhandle will welcome neighbors for National Night Out events this week and later this fall, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida planning to take part.

In a Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, announcement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said it will join law enforcement partners, community leaders and residents at National Night Out gatherings aimed at strengthening relationships between police and the communities they serve.

U.S. Attorney Heekin said, “The U.S. Attorney’s Office is proud to participate in National Night Out, which is an opportunity for law enforcement to interact with members of our community to foster trust and build strong relationships. We look forward to engaging with community leaders and residents in our continued efforts to make the Northern District of Florida the best and safest place in America to live, work, and raise a family.”

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes partnerships and camaraderie between law enforcement and the communities they serve. The event is held across thousands of communities nationwide, typically on the first Tuesday of August. The program was established in 1984 with funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance within the U.S. Department of Justice and is administered by the National Association of Town Watch, a nationwide nonprofit organization.

Organizers say National Night Out events are coordinated by local law enforcement and trained volunteers and can include block parties, cookouts, festivals, parades, safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events and visits from emergency personnel.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said it plans to attend these events hosted by local law enforcement agencies:

Pensacola Police Department: Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, beginning at 5 p.m. at Booker T. Washington High School, 6000 College Pkwy, Pensacola, FL 32504.

High Springs Police Department: Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the High Spring Civic Center, 19107 NW 240th St., High Springs, FL 32643.

Tallahassee Police Department: Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cascades Park, 1001 S. Gadsden St., Tallahassee, FL 32301.
