MARION COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A man is accused of stealing a car, and running from the deputies on foot, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
MCSO says that on August 1, deputies spotted a stolen Nissan Altima driven by Chad Cordrey near NE Jacksonville Road and NE 35th Street. When deputies attempted to pull him over, Cordrey began to flee.
Following him via helicopter for several minutes, MCSO says they placed stop sticks on NE Highway 314, but Cordrey — who MCSO says is also a registered sex offender — ran right over them, and continued to drive until his tires fell off. Eventually, Cordrey bailed from the vehicle and took off on foot.
Shortly after ducking into a nearby yard, Cordrey was found hiding under a vehicle, and placed under arrest.

Ariel footage from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office shows officers tailing Cordrey in the stolen Altima, and bodycam footage shows them pulling him from underneath the vehicle and putting him in handcuffs.
Cordrey was brought to the Marion County Jail and charged with grand theft, fleeing/eluding, and resisting arrest.
