TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers honored two deputies who survived a shooting in Ruskin with personalized gifts Tuesday, showing the team’s appreciation for their service.
Deputy Sopharmony Muon and Deputy Colton Daniels both received signed jerseys with their names on the back, as well as their own game balls from the team. The celebration came with lots of hugs and smiles, as just weeks ago the deputies were recovering in the hospital.

They were responding to a home in Ruskin on July 16 after a woman escaped from the residence and reported being held captive by her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Dmuchowski.
Muon was the first to arrive at the home and was immediately met by gunfire from Dmuchowski, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Muon suffered gunshot wounds to his face and left hand but ultimately survived the injuries after undergoing surgery.
Officials said Daniels was also shot in the neck, before a third deputy, Sergeant Harrison Bashner, arrived from behind and shot and killed Dmuchowski. Authorities said Daniels was fortunate in that the bullet passed through his neck without striking his cervical spine or any vital arteries.
Bashner also received recognition from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his role in stopping the suspect. The sheriff’s office shared video of the celebration Tuesday, with all three deputies present, and thanked the team for its support.
“We are sincerely thankful for the Buccaneers’ support of our deputies,” the sheriff’s office said. “Their kindness and partnership mean more than words can express, and we are grateful to stand alongside an organization that continues to support those who serve our community.”
