Crews have begun repaving nearly 2 miles of New Tampa Boulevard.
TAMPA, Fla. — Crews have begun work on a major repaving project along New Tampa Boulevard, Tampa city officials say.
Nearly two miles of the road, from Meadow Pine Drive to Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, will be repaved with new asphalt.
The work is expected to take no more than two months.
Roughly 12,000 drivers travel across New Tampa Boulevard every day, the city estimates.

Crews will work at night to minimize traffic interruptions, and finished portions of the roadway are expected to reopen each morning.
In addition to repaving, the project will bring upgraded pavement markings and new ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps.
The $1 million project is part of a wider effort to repave and resurface roadways across Tampa. Since 2019, the city has repaved nearly 340 lane-miles, focusing first on the roadways in the worst condition, officials say.
“New Tampa wanted the best and New Tampa is gonna get the best with this project for this often traveled Boulevard,” said City Councilman Luis Viera.
