The City of Jacksonville is moving forward with a pilot program for a temporary social district.

Here’s what we know.

The proposal comes from Clove Hitch Beer Company.

The district would be temporary for the company’s Downtown Oktoberfest Celebration on Sept. 25 and 26.

The temporary district would also allow the city to evaluate the possibility of creating a future permanent or expanded social district.

City officials say the next step is to work with the police and fire departments to evaluate any public safety concerns.
