Jacksonville Parks and Rec to host back-to-school bash Aug. 22 with free physicals

With the first day of school approaching, Onslow County Parks and Recreation is inviting families to a Back to School Bash on Aug. 22.

The event is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. and will include appearances by Bluey, Spider-Man and other characters. Organizers said the bash will feature free physicals, a splash zone and BMX riders.

LaQuesha Cadwallader, recreation division manager for Onslow County Parks and Rec., said the BMX portion will include multiple performances. “It’s a bike stunt show – Chain Reaction Sports Action, and we’ll have three different shows throughout the day with 30-minute increments so people can come out and watch them do their stunts,” Cadwallader said.

Andrea Greer, a recreation specialist with Onslow County Parks and Rec., said the splash zone will include water attractions and help from local firefighters. “We have a splash zone that’s gonna be located at the back side of the park where we will have two waterslides and Southwest Fire Department as well as a foam party,” Greer said.

Organizers said there will also be tables with resources for parents and students, along with free hot dogs.
