HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla — A Tampa man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after authorities say he drove the wrong way on Interstate 75 and collided head-on with another vehicle.
It happened Thursday just after 3 a.m. According to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest affidavit, troopers were dispatched to reports of a dark SUV traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 258.

When troopers arrived, they found a heavily damaged Chevrolet SUV facing southbound in the northbound lanes and a red Honda with front-end damage.
Investigators identified the driver of the SUV as 37-year-old Ceasar Aguirre Jr. A witness told troopers Aguirre was the only person seen exiting the vehicle.
Troopers reported Aguirre showed signs of impairment, including bloodshot, glossy eyes, an odor of alcohol and unsteady balance.
Aguirre initially denied driving before later admitting he was behind the wheel, according to the affidavit. He reportedly refused field sobriety exercises and declined to provide a breath sample.
Aguirre was arrested on one count of driving under the influence and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. The driver of the Honda suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
