Community leaders, hotel officials and members of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce celebrate the grand opening of the first My Place Hotel in Florida in the Deep Creek area of Charlotte County.

The opening of My Place Hotel in Charlotte County on Aug. 6 fills a gap in the local lodging market, which has lacked extended-stay hotels, said Sean Doherty, tourism director for the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau.
Doherty joined dozens of community members, local officials and business leaders to celebrate the franchise’s first Florida location. My Place Hotels operates 80 hotels across 31 states, with more than 120 additional locations in development.
Ryan Rivett, president and CEO of My Place Hotels, traveled from the company’s headquarters in Aberdeen, South Dakota, with his wife and young children for the event.
Also participating in the ceremony were Ali Rahimi, senior vice president of operations for My Place Hotels of America, and Marlo Signoracci, general manager of the hotel at 24490 Sandhill Blvd. in the Deep Creek area, along with members of the local hotel staff.
Leaders from both the Charlotte County and Punta Gorda chambers of commerce attended, including Bob White and Sean McLaughlin, respectively, along with chamber members, local officials and community supporters.
Signoracci said the 63-room hotel offers both traditional guest rooms and extended-stay accommodations. The extended-stay rooms include a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, toaster and coffee maker, although guests must provide their own cookware and dishes.
My Place Hotels has opened its first Florida location in the Deep Creek area of Charlotte County, adding 64 extended-stay guest rooms.

Amenities include free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour guest laundry, a 24-hour My Store convenience shop and a business center.
The hotel is within walking distance of several businesses, including Walmart, Applebee’s Grill + Bar, Culver’s, Beef O’Brady’s, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Mudslide Coffee.
My Place Hotels was founded in 2012 in Aberdeen, where Rivett grew up. His grandfather, Ron Rivett, co-founded the company with him, and the brand launched its franchising system in 2014. Ryan Rivett became president and CEO in 2017.
The Rivett family also owns and operates the first Super 8 hotel, which opened in Aberdeen.
While mingling with guests, Rivett reflected on his early years working at the family’s fishing lodge in Alaska. In previous interviews, he has described starting in hotel kitchens before moving into construction and eventually returning to hospitality because he missed interacting with guests.
Doherty said Sean Walter, the visitor bureau’s business development director for sales and sports, has already helped book rooms at My Place Hotel for upcoming swim competitions.

Charlotte County hosts numerous youth and amateur sporting events each year, including baseball tournaments. Visiting athletes and their families often stay for several days, making extended-stay hotels an important part of the county’s tourism infrastructure.
As of Aug. 7, room rates started at $94.24 per night. The hotel also offers accessible rooms for guests who are hearing impaired, as well as mobility-accessible rooms with roll-in showers.
Although Charlotte County could still use additional extended-stay lodging, more hotels are in the pipeline, Doherty said, including the 112-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott planned off Jones Loop Road.
According to McCarthy Commercial Group, that hotel is expected to open in early 2027.
Doherty said the county’s greatest need is for an extended-stay hotel closer to Englewood Beach. While the area offers smaller resorts and vacation rentals, some visitors prefer the amenities and consistency of a traditional hotel.
