Some of the state’s other major cities are also getting record-breaking skyscrapers.
FORT LAUDERDALE:
Its tallest building is Veneto Las Olas, a 499-foot (152-meter), 45-story apartment tower built by the Related Group in 2023. However, Related has the 540-foot (165-meter) Andare condo building under construction while New York-based Arosa Developers has proposed a mixed-use 600-foot (183-meter), 54-story tower in the Flagler Village area — with a rooftop bar.
ST. PETERSBURG:
Its tallest building is The Residences at 400 Central, a 46-story condo tower developed by the New York-based Red Apple Group that opened in 2025. At 515 feet (157 meters), it’s the tallest residential building on Florida’s Gulf Coast. But later this year, developer PMG, which is developing Florida’s first supertall with its Miami Waldorf project, plans to break ground on the Waldorf Astoria Residences St. Petersburg, which will reach 539 feet (164 meters) and 50 stories.
TAMPA:
Its tallest is 100 North Tampa, a 42-story office building which, at 579 feet (176 meters), is the tallest building on Florida’s Gulf Coast. However, local developer Elliott International is proposing a 70-story, 740-foot (226-meter) mixed-use tower in the downtown core.
JACKSONVILLE:
Since 1990, its tallest building has been the Bank of America Tower at 617 feet (188 meters) tall. Developer David Ergisi’s Cross Regions Real Estate has plans for a 712-foot condo highrise that would be called Ergisi Tower, three blocks away on the downtown riverfront. However, it’s been stalled in the permitting stage since 2024.
ORLANDO:
Its tallest building has long been 200 South Orange (formerly and still commonly known as the SunTrust Center), completed in 1988, which rises 35 stories and 441 feet (134 meters). In 2023, the city’s planning board approved plans for a tower that would have been three feet taller, but lenders were unwilling to finance it and the developer called it quits in 2024.
