Sears brace keys Racing Louisville win at Orlando
Emma Sears scored her first goal since May 8, and then added a second as Racing Louisville FC won 3-1 on Friday night at Orlando.
Racing got on the board first in the 16th minute, off a corner, 17 year-old Audrey McKeen headed home her first professional goal.
“That was kind of my job for corners, just go and find the ball and they left me unmarked and I saw it and I just went for it and put it in the back of the net,” McKeen said.
Sears delivered a strike in the box in the 68th minute. It was her first goal in almost two months.
She didn’t have to wait long for her next. It came just 11 minutes later.
Sears hopped over Pride keeper Anna Moorhouse and knocked in her second goal of the night.
“It feels great,” Sears said. “I feel like as a striker it’s always in the forefront of your mind. Going into each game, you want to try to create chances as much as you can for not only yourself, but for your teammates. We’ve switched our shape a little bit. I feel like I’ve been getting in positions where I’m maybe more of an assisting role, and so it felt good tonight to get back on the scoresheet.”
Racing improves to 5-11-2 and picks up three points for the third time in the last four games.
They are back home on Saturday, August 15, hosting Boston Legacy FC at 6:30 p.m. at Lynn Family Stadium.
