The latest Michelin recommendations came out this summer, and while St. Pete had some deserving additions to the lauded dining guide, Michelin missed several of our most-visited spots. These may not be the fanciest restaurants, but if you’re looking for fantastic food that feeds the soul and fills your belly at the same time, we have some ideas.
St. Pete is full of amazing Black-owned food spots that definitely belong on a list like that. Grant’s Crabs also has a food truck that pops up around Tampa Bay
Hams R Us is a popular roadside barbecue spot located at 1700 Dr. M.L.K. Jr. St. S. in St. Petersburg. Most popular items include brisket, ribs, smoked chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad.
Cups and Cakes by Latoya is a local St. Petersburg bakery founded by Latoya McCormick and her aunt, Algie Brown. Known for custom cupcakes, scratch-made specialty cakes, and dessert shooters.
Grant’s Crabs Seafood is a casual, family-friendly restaurant that has been serving Largo for more than a decade. Owner Will Grant has over 32 years of experience feeding locals and celebrities including Angela Bassett and Dick Vitale. They are dedicated to serving quality ingredients like fresh Gulf crab and their signature “Stuttah Buttah.”
Grillin n Chillin is the best beach barbecue in the Bay, served by our friend Jay. Highlights include melt-in-your-mouth ribs, juicy pulled pork, creamy mac-n-cheese, and brisket.
Sid’s Caribbean Grill is a homey locale for Louisiana-style Creole cuisine with garden patio seating. Highlights include shrimp and grits, jerk chicken dinner, fried okra, and beignets.
The Brunch Munch is a food truck located at 925 22nd St s on the Deuces. Arguably the tastiest soul food in South St. Pete, and the wings are to die for!
