A bridge over U.S. 69 in Miami is closed along with one lane of the highway after the bridge was struck by a truck Friday morning.

Officials with the Kansas Department of Transportation said a crane on a truck hauling logs struck the West 399th Street Bridge in the northbound lane of U.S. 69.

A viewer told KMBC 9 News it appeared part of the apparatus caught fire. Meanwhile, authorities said the bridge was badly damaged as a result of that crash.

KDOT inspectors were dispatched to the scene to assess the damage to the structure. As a result, 399th Street over U.S. 69 near La Cygne is closed. At least one lane of northbound U.S. 69 is also closed with authorities saying motorists are being shifted to the passing lane.

No injuries were reported.
