Fire chief: 7 families displaced after attic fire in Oldsmar apartment building

First responders arrived to see smoke coming from the attic and the fire partially spread through the roof, officials say.

OLDSMAR, Fla. — An apartment fire in Oldsmar on Sunday morning displaced seven families, fire officials say.

Just before 8:50 a.m., a structure fire was reported at the 3000 block of Old Village Way in the Aventine at Forest Lakes Apartment Homes complex.

Fire crews from Oldsmar, East Lake, Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor and Clearwater responded to the scene, according to Oldsmar Fire Chief Jason Schwabe.

Crews arrived to find “fire in the attic and partially through the roof” of the two-story building, Schwabe said.

No residents or firefighters were injured, but seven families were displaced, including two dogs and three cats. Schwabe says property management and American Red Cross are assisting the displaced families.

The fire is still under investigation.
