JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Jacksonville man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he drove while impaired, fled from law enforcement and struck an Onslow County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.
According to arrest warrants, 36-year-old Daniel Brill was driving on U.S. 17 in Onslow County on August 9th when law enforcement attempted to stop him.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office charged Brill with felony fleeing to elude arrest and assault with a deadly weapon on a government officer. According to warrants, Brill struck a marked sheriff’s office vehicle, damaging its front bumper. Court documents identify Brill’s vehicle as the deadly weapon used in the assault.
Brill is also charged by Highway Patrol with driving while impaired, driving without an operator’s license, speeding, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage and driving the wrong way on a divided highway. The warrants state Brill was clocked going 75mph in a 55mph zone.
According to court documents, Brill registered a 0.26 blood alcohol concentration, more than three times North Carolina’s legal limit of 0.08.
Brill also has a previous DWI charge still pending in which says he had a 0.24 blood alcohol concentration.
His bond was not authorized
