FLORIDA — The Cocoa Beach Police Department said a 23-year-old Oklahoma man was found dead in a body of water following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday.

Around 7:20 a.m., officers responded to West Cocoa Beach Causeway near the Banana River relief bridge after a passer-by saw the rear bumper of a vehicle sticking up out of the water.

Police said rescue units found the man dead in the front driver’s seat of a 2023 grey Nissan Altima.

The preliminary investigation finds that the car left the roadway while traveling at a high rate of speed. The car was around eight feet deep in the water when it was recovered.

No foul play is suspected at this time, police said.

The vehicle was recovered from the water with help from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.

Police said this is an active and ongoing traffic crash investigation. Anyone who may have information related to the case is asked to contact Cocoa Beach Police Department Detective Kienan Morris at 321-868-3264.
