JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – On Sunday, August 9th the Jacksonville Police Department responded to a report of vandalism in downtown Jacksonville involving the barber pole at Jacksonville Barbershop.
“It could be hard to replace because it’s an antique and is very valuable,” Shop owner, Ed McDee said. “If you could ever find it, it will probably be more than $2,000 to repair.”
The Jacksonville Police Department is continuing to investigate, and no serious charges have been filed at this time. “It looks like there’s potentially camera footage, things like that, but they don’t know exactly the potential suspect information at this point,” Jacksonville Chief of Police, Matthew Hannum said.
Investigators may also be able to obtain surveillance footage from nearby businesses, which could help identify the person or people responsible. Police have not determined whether the incident involved someone from the local area or a visitor.
There have been similar vandalism incidents reported in the surrounding area in the past. It remains unclear whether this incident is connected to any previous cases, but investigators will take those incidents into consideration as part of their ongoing investigation.
