Pinellas Park leaders OK one-year moratorium on data centers

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Leaders in Pinellas Park voted Tuesday night to pause data center development for one year.

It is now the first community in Pinellas County to approve a moratorium on those facilities.

The unanimous vote came after a public hearing at a city council meeting.

This now means it will be at least another year until the city considers a proposal it received from a data center developer.

American Tower wanted to build a small-scale facility in the northwestern part of the city.

Council members say they’ll take this next year to determine how data centers fit into their existing regulations.
