Farm Share Community Food & Resource Drive
Held on the First Wednesday of Each Month
On the first Wednesday of each month, Vice Mayor Joseph L. Kelley hosts the Farm Share Community Food & Resource Drive, a signature community outreach initiative that provides residents with both essential food assistance and access to a wide range of valuable community resources.
While residents receive free fresh fruits, vegetables, and other nutritious food items, they also have the opportunity to connect with numerous government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners offering services designed to improve the well-being of individuals and families.
By combining food assistance with meaningful community resources, the Farm Share Community Food & Resource Drive has become much more than a monthly distribution event it has evolved into a community hub where residents can receive support, build connections, and access the tools needed to improve their quality of life.

Prayer in the Garden
On the first Wednesday of every month at 12:05 p.m., residents, faith leaders, City officials, and members of the community gather at the Rose Tydus Garden for Prayer in the Garden, a monthly event dedicated to strengthening the community through faith, fellowship, and reflection.
This inspiring gathering offers participants an opportunity to pause from the demands of everyday life to seek God’s guidance, pray for the well-being of the City, or nation and uplift one another through words of encouragement and hope. Open to individuals of all faiths and backgrounds, Prayer in the Garden serves as a reminder of the power of unity, compassion, and community.

Feeding South Florida & Community Resource Day
Held on the Third Friday of Each Month
On the third Friday of each month, Vice Mayor Joseph L. Kelley partners with Feeding South Florida and numerous community organizations to host a comprehensive Community Food Distribution and Community Resource Drive for Opa-locka residents.
While families receive free, nutritious food, attendees also have access to a wide range of valuable services and resources from local government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Which includes the DMV FLOW mobile services, health screenings, health insurance information, employment assistance, utility assistance, educational resources, social services, and senior resources.
The event serves as a convenient one-stop location where residents can address multiple needs in a single visit while connecting with organizations dedicated to improving their quality of life. By bringing essential services directly into the community, this monthly initiative continues to strengthen partnerships and ensure residents have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Meet Me Monday: A Conversation with the Community
Held on the Second Monday of Each Month
Meet Me Monday is a monthly community forum held on the second Monday of each month, providing residents with an open and welcoming space to voice their concerns, ask questions, and engage in meaningful dialogue with City leadership.
Designed to encourage transparency and accessibility, the forum allows residents to freely discuss issues affecting their neighborhoods without time restrictions or barriers. Whether addressing public safety, infrastructure, code enforcement, sanitation, community development, or quality-of-life concerns, every resident has the opportunity to be heard and receive guidance.
The forum also features the participation of City department directors and senior management, who are present to answer questions, provide updates, and address concerns directly within their respective areas of responsibility. This collaborative approach enables many issues to be resolved more efficiently while keeping residents informed about ongoing projects, City services, and upcoming initiatives.
Meet Me Monday continues to strengthen the relationship between City and the community by promoting open communication, accountability, and citizen engagement, ensuring that every voice has the opportunity to contribute to the future of Opa-locka.

Seniors on the Move AI Graduation Ceremony

The event celebrated seniors who successfully completed an AI-focused educational program designed to introduce participants to the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence and modern technology.
