After two seasons on the shelf, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced this week they’ll wear their all-pewter alternate uniforms during their Dec. 20 game against the New Orleans Saints (1 p.m. ET on FOX).
The Buccaneers have worn the uniforms six times since they were unveiled in 2020 alongside new home and road uniforms, which returned the franchise to its classic home and road look, going 2-4 in the set.
That includes wins over the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos in 2020 and losses to the Rams in 2021, Cincinnati Bengals in 2022 and Indianapolis Colts in 2023.
The uniforms generally follow the same design as the red home and white road looks, with a “Buccaneers” wordmark above the chest, pirate ship logos on the sleeves and contrasting cuffs.
However, the jersey numbers are white with a red outline and the pants feature a two-color stripe whereas the numbers and stripes on the home and road uniforms feature a three-color design.
The Buccaneers previously revealed the white road version of their creamsicle throwback uniforms are here to stay for another season, as they’ll be worn against the Los Angeles Chargers on Dec. 6.
That means the home version will be sidelined in 2026, unless Tampa Bay receives permission from the NFL to exceed the limit of four jerseys per team per season – not including Nike “Rivalries” promotion.
The road version was intended to only be worn last season as the Buccaneers celebrated their 50th anniversary but they decided to wear them again due to overwhelmingly positive feedback from fans.
Tampa Bay went 2-0 in the uniforms last season after originally going 0-14 in the design in 1976, the only year they featured orange numbers with a red outline, including wins over New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks.
